"In the course of time, Cain presented some of the land's produce as an offering to the LORD. Abel also presented an offering—some of the firstborn of his flock and their fat portions. The LORD had regard for Abel and his offering, but He did not have regard for Cain and his offering. Cain was furious, and he looked despondent. Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you furious? And why do you look despondent?” Genesis 4:3-6
This passage tells me God is worthy of our best offering we can give.
Abel understood God’s majesty and gave his best offering based on God’s majesty.
Cain also knew God was worthy of worship, but he didn’t give his best as an offering; he gave only what he felt God was worth, not God’s full measure.
I believe our measure of God’s worth is directly related to how much we value God in our lives.
If we don’t value him much, our offering and worship will directly reflect that; however, if we value God a lot, then our worship and offering will correlate.
